Flight Hardware Integration Facility
The Flight Integration Laboratory was created to process flight hardware in a secure manner and in a secure location. The laboratory is housed in the Center for Space Research, a facility that provides secure badge access at all times. This facility is equipped with multiple ESD workstations; these stations have a primary work area for satellite integration and three secondary work areas for subsystem integration. The primary work area also has a custom-built ESD floor to prevent hardware damage. There are several secure storage cabinets to house flight hardware, tools, equipment, and supplies. A two ton crane allows heavy or sensitive flight hardware to be safely moved. The lab also has a compressor to provide pressurized air for cleaning flight hardware. In this facility, clean-room attire and controlled procedures are enforced at all times when handling flight hardware. Quality assurance is provided through detailed project test plans and documents that require an additional witness during flight hardware testing.
