Biography
Shaun Stewart completed his Master's degree at The University of Texas at Austin studying Aerospace Engineering. He investigated the viability of controlling railgun payloads using corrected GPS position and attitude solutions.
Shaun graduated with honors with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in May 2002. He is a member of the Sigma Gamma Tau National Honor Society in Aerospace Engineering and received The Presidential Graduate Scholarship from The University of Texas at Austin.
Shaun also actively supported the FASTRAC program, whose purpose is to investigate enabling technologies for satellite formations. He is currently the subsystem lead for the Command and Data Handling, Microcontroller, and Software subsystems as well as a Communications subsystem specialist. Pending approval by The Air Force Research Laboratory and JSC, the FASTRAC nanosatellite is planned to launch in 2006 or 2007.
Shaun was also the graduate student advisor for the CanSat program. Beginning in the spring of 2003, Shaun supervised teams of undergraduate and high school students to design and build two 1 kg picosatellites. These were successfully launched to 12,000 feet on an amateur rocket at Black Rock Desert, Nevada, in September 2003.
Shaun currently works at Austin Digital, Inc. as an aerospace engineer where he supervises projects that monitor and guide aircraft traffic control near major airports.
