Biography

Dr. Jared Madsen received his Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin in May 2003.   While at UT-Austin, Jared performed his research on attitude determination with GPS signals. He extended the single vector determination problem into a full 3 axis SNR attitude solution method. This new algorithm employees Kalman filtering to achieve improved results and greatly simplifies the integer ambiguity resolution problem.

While pursuing these research goals Jared has been awarded the Thrust 2000, Texas Space Grant, University Co-Op, and NASA GRSP fellowships.

Prior to attending graduate school, Jared completed his undergraduate work at Utah State University where he graduated Magna cum Laude in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with University and Departmental Honors. As an undergraduate student Jared was a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Golden Key Honor Society, and Tau Beta Pi Honor Society. He was awarded the ASHRAE, Bourn's, and Presidential Scholarships, and received an honorable mention in the Department of Defense Graduate Fellowship Competition.

After his graduation from the University, Jared was hired by Sandia Corporation, where he is now employed as an aerospace engineer in Albuquerque, NM.  Jared and his wife, Adri Anne, currently have two daughters, Lydia and Brooke.
