Biography
Greg Holt is currently working at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. He is with the Flight Dynamics Division, Navigation Group. Current projects include development of cislunar navigation strategies for the new Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle, ground navigation software for NASA's Constellation Program, and flight control work in NASA's Mission Control Center.
He received his Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin in August 2006 under Dr. Lightsey. His research involved a generalized approach to navigation of spacecraft formations using multiple sensors. In support of his research, Greg was the Student Program Manager for the University of Texas FASTRAC nanosatellite project for two years. As part of the FASTRAC team, he helped developed the multipurpose navigation sensor for the nanosatellite. Greg was also the instructor for the Flight Dynamics Laboratory course at UT.
His thesis research involved GPS spacecraft navigation and benchmark testing of spaceborne GPS receivers. This research was in support of a NASA Johnson Space Center project for the design of a new generation of spaceborne GPS receivers. Greg was awarded the prestigous National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship in 2000. Professional memberships include the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the Institute of Navigation.
Greg graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in May 2000. He is a member and former chapter president of the Sigma Gamma Tau National Honor Society in Aerospace Engineering. Greg was born and raised in Austin, Texas and attended Hyde Park Baptist High School.
